Report an Issue
Use Report an Issue to send a bug report to the IDI Fly team straight from the dashboard. Add a description, drop in a screenshot, and the team gets it instantly.
Where to find it
The bug-icon button sits in the top-right of the navigation bar on every main view: Fly Dashboard, Mission Planning, Analytics, and Flight Story.

The button is always available — you can report an issue the moment you hit it, even mid-mission.
Submit a bug report in 4 steps
1. Open Report an Issue
Click the bug icon. The form opens centred on screen with your name and email already filled in from your account.

2. Describe what happened
Type a clear, specific description in the Description field. This is the only required field — Send Feedback stays disabled until you've written something.
A useful description tells the team:
- What you were trying to do
- What actually happened
- Which page or view you were on
3. Add a screenshot (recommended)
Click the Screenshot tab, then either Capture Screen (your browser asks which screen, window, or tab to share) or Upload Image (pick a file from your computer — PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP up to 10 MB).
A preview appears as soon as the image is attached. Click Remove to swap it.
4. Click Send Feedback
You'll see "Sending…" while the report uploads, then a confirmation:

The form closes automatically after 2 seconds.
Annotate before you send
Once a screenshot is attached, click Annotate below the preview to mark it up in a full-screen editor.

The toolbar has five tools:
- Highlight — yellow outline around the area you want reviewers to look at.
- Hide — solid black box that covers anything sensitive (names, emails, coordinates, customer IDs). The redaction is baked into the image before it leaves your browser, so the original pixels never travel.
- Text — click anywhere on the screenshot to drop a yellow text label, type, then press Enter.
- Undo — remove the last shape or label you added.
- Clear — remove every annotation in one go.
Click Done when you're finished. Closing the editor without clicking Done keeps your work — annotations are saved as soon as you draw them.
Use Hide liberally. It's faster than re-taking a screenshot to avoid sensitive content.
Stay flying while you write
Click the − in the modal header to shrink the form into a small "Feedback" widget in the bottom-right corner. Your description, screenshot, and any active recordings are preserved while it's minimised.

You can:
- Drag the widget anywhere on screen.
- Expand it back to the full form whenever you're ready.
- Keep flying / interacting with the dashboard while your draft sits in the corner.
The modal also follows you when you drag the header bar of the full form — useful if it's covering the part of the UI you're trying to describe.
Choose the right attachment
Pick the attachment that best matches what you're trying to show:
- Visual / UI bug → Screenshot, with Hide to redact sensitive areas.
- Issue you can describe in words alone → no attachment needed; the description is enough.
The modal also offers Voice, Video, and Screen recording tabs.
Voice, video, and screen recordings are recorded locally so you can preview them in the modal, but they aren't yet attached to the report sent to the team. Use Screenshot for now, or describe the issue in words. We'll roll out delivery for the other recording types in a future release — see FLY3D-602 for status.
Submit
The team gets your report instantly. The modal auto-closes after 2 seconds, and you'll continue right where you left off.
What happens after you send
Your report goes to the IDI Fly engineering team's error-tracking system, along with the page URL you were on, your browser/version, and the description you wrote. Screenshots travel along with the message; voice/video/screen recordings do not (yet — see the callout above).
Privacy and consent
If you accepted User Identification in the privacy banner, your name and email are sent with the report so the team can follow up directly. If you declined or revoked that consent, the form still shows your name/email (auto-filled for your convenience) but they're stripped before the report leaves your browser. The description and any screenshot are still sent — just anonymously.
Auto-opening on a crash
If the dashboard hits an unexpected error, a minimised Feedback widget appears in the bottom-right with the error message already pre-filled in the description. Expand it, add what you were doing, and Send. This is the fastest way to report a crash because the technical context is already captured for you.
Troubleshooting
The modal asked for camera / microphone / screen-share permission and I clicked block. Browser-level permissions are sticky — you'll need to re-grant them in your browser settings to use the recording tabs again. Most browsers expose this from the padlock icon next to the URL.
My screenshot upload was rejected. Image uploads are capped at 10 MB each. If the file is larger, compress it (most image apps offer "Save for web" or similar) and try again.
My report says it sent, but the team didn't follow up. First: check that you accepted User Identification consent — without it, the report is sent anonymously and the team can't reply. Second: very large attachments are compressed in the browser; if the resulting payload exceeds 5 MB total, the lowest-priority attachments are dropped with a note appended to your description.
I can't see the bug icon. It's in the top-right of the navigation bar on Fly Dashboard, Analytics, Flight Story, and Mission Planning. Other views (settings, profile, admin panel) don't currently host the button.
FAQ
Q: Where exactly does my feedback go? A: It's routed through the same error-tracking system the team uses for crashes. Each report shows up alongside any technical breadcrumbs from your session, so the team can usually pin down the cause without further info.
Q: Can I submit feedback while a flight is in progress? A: Yes. Open the form, write what you need, minimise it, and continue flying. The minimised widget stays out of the way and your draft is preserved.
Q: What if I close the modal before submitting? A: Closing the full form discards the draft. Use Minimise if you want to come back to it.
Q: Why are my name and email pre-filled? A: They come from your account so you don't have to type them every time. You can edit them before sending if you want the team to reach a different address.
Q: Is there a size limit on attachments? A: Images are auto-compressed in the browser. Each file is capped at 1 MB after compression, with a 5 MB total per report. If the attachments exceed that, the largest are dropped and the description is updated to mention which ones.
